According to police, the accused, named Ravindra, used to work as a laborer in an event management company in South Delhi and had quit his job some time ago. He started living in DDA Park and was being provided food by a security guard.

The incident occurred on March 9 when the victim, named Ajay, allegedly misbehaved with the guard. Ravindra decided to take revenge by murdering him. The case came to light when police received a complaint about Ajay (24) on March 9.

A senior police officer said that CCTV footage in the area showed Ajay entering the park with another person but did not show him leaving. Suspicious footage from other CCTV cameras around the park revealed Ajay talking on his mobile phone.

Upon investigating Ajay’s call records, it was discovered that his last incoming call was from a relative. The relative informed police that a stranger had called him and identified himself as Aslam. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said that the suspect, armed with a knife, was at Ramphal Chowk in Dwarka Sector 7, where he was selling oranges and wearing the victim’s shoes. Upon interrogation, Ravindra told police that on March 9, a man who was intoxicated started abusing the security guard who used to feed him. Chauhan said he decided to teach him a lesson.

Ravindra first befriended Ajay, bought alcohol with him, and took him to a deserted area. Chauhan said that when the victim became more intoxicated, he beat him and strangled him. He then fled the scene with Ajay’s mobile phone and shoes.
