In preparation for the G20 Summit, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) has strategically positioned over 500 firefighters and a fleet of 40 fire tenders in Lutyens’ Delhi. While ensuring safety, a discreet directive emphasizes maintaining a low profile to preserve the event’s ambiance.

To overcome spatial constraints, the DFS has introduced cutting-edge tools, including miniature robots, telescopic rescue poles, modified sky lifts, water towers, and rescue tripods. These are strategically placed across the Pragati Maidan complex, the summit’s venue, to swiftly respond to emergencies.

The standout innovation is miniature robots, remote-controlled with fire tanks and hoses to navigate and douse fires. Modified sky lifts reach 100 meters, aiding firefighting in tall structures.

Telescopic rescue poles navigate narrow spaces for emergency search and rescue. Rescue tripods handle confined spaces adeptly.

The DFS officer explained their strategy to avoid large crowds. Equipment placement replaces bulky fire tenders and central firefighter assembly. Only three tenders will be at Pragati Maidan.

Firefighters will also be present at prominent hotels and markets for dignitaries. Accommodations have been inspected for safety.

DFS Chief Atul Garg highlighted the placement of 500 firefighters strategically, along with 40 fire tenders operating daily.

A state-of-the-art control room offers seamless venue oversight. Garg emphasized intensive firefighter training and dignitary accommodations’ safety checks.

DFS managed leave to ensure a robust force for the event.

As the G20 Summit nears, the DFS showcases meticulous planning with technological innovation, strategic positioning, and commitment to safety.
