Taapsee Pannu on Anil Kapoor’s son Harsh Varrdhan: ‘If I was in his position, I wouldn’t have got a second film’

Published

on

Taapsee Pannu did not mince her words when she appeared on Neha Dhupia’s radio show, No Filter Neha. The actor went on to share quite a few personal stories besides naming Urvashi Rautela as the one who needs a stylist and Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor as the newcomer who wouldn’t have been able to move ahead without his parents.

On being asked to name a newcomer who would have been nowhere if he/she didn’t have famous parents, Taapsee named Harsh Varrdhan. Harsh is the son of actor Anil Kapoor and brother of Sonam Kapoor. He made his debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya in 2016 but it turned out to be a disaster at the box office. He went on to star in a vigilante drama, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero two years later. He is currently working on the Abhinav Bindra biopic in which he plays the central role.

“Whatever I have seen of him till now, I think it would have been pretty difficult to get a second film after a not so appreciated debut. If I would have been in his position, I wouldn’t have got a second film,” she said.

Neha also asked Taapsee to name a person who needs a new stylist. Taapsee named Urvashi and said, “I think she has got a great body, I would love to see better clothes and not just the kind that show only the body.” Urvashi will now be seen in Anees Bazmee’s multi-starrer comedy, Pagalpanti. She is paired opposite Arshad Warsi in the film. It is set to hit theatres this Friday.

Moving ahead in the game, Taapsee named Jacqueline Fernandez as the worst co-star, besides Vicky Kaushal. “She has so freaking hot body because I was struggling to match up to her in Judwaa 2. I was just like I just hope that I don’t put myself to shame,” she said. Talking about Vicky, she said, “I am always so conscious that I should not lose out to him in a scene because he is just so good.”

Shahid Kapoor injured while shooting for Jersey, receives 13 stitches; Mira Rajput rushes to Mohali

Published

on

Shahid Kapoor has been hurt on the sets of his upcoming film Jersey. The actor was shooting a scene at the Mohali Stadium on Friday when he was hit by a ball on his mouth.

“Shahid was playing perfectly fine and rehearsing before the shot, when the ball unexpectedly came and hit him on the lower lip and cut open a wide gash where blood started gushing out. He was immediately taken for treatment and a doctor was rushed to see him. To close the wound, stitches were sutured by the doctor,” a source close to the makers told PTI.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, his wife Mira Rajput has left for Chandigarh to be by his side. “He is fine now. But the injury was a deep cut so he had to get 13 stitches. Mira has rushed to Chandigarh now on hearing the news. There’s nothing to worry anymore,” a report told the website.

The actor will take a break for the next few days as he has a heavily bruised lower lip. He will resume filming after the swelling subsides and the wound is healed, the PTI source added.

Jersey chronicles the story of a talented but failed cricketer, who decides to return to the field in his late thirties driven by the desire to represent the Indian cricket team and fulfil his son’s wish for a jersey as a gift.

The Hindi version of the sports-drama is being directed by Gowtam Tinnanauri, who also helmed the original 2019 Telugu film, starring Nani in the lead. Jersey, which also features Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor, will release in August this year.

Ajay Devgn comments on JNU: ‘Always maintained we should wait for proper facts to emerge’

Published

on

Actor Ajay Devgn has tweeted about JNU violence, saying that one should wait for ‘proper facts to emerge’. Earlier when asked to comment on the same, Ajay had said he wasn’t informed well enough to talk about it.

“I have always maintained that we should wait for proper facts to emerge. I appeal to everyone- let us further the spirit of peace and brotherhood, not derail it either consciously or carelessly #JNUViolence,” he wrote in his tweet.

His comments came on a day when the Delhi Police named Aishe Ghosh, the JNU students’ union president, as one of the nine suspects identified by them in connection with three criminal cases registered by the police. Ghosh was part of the group attacked by masked men on Sunday evening at the JNU campus.

Ajay also spoke about the clash between his Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Deepika Padukone-starrer Chhapaak. Talking about both the films releasing Friday, the actor says he wants both films to do well at the box-office because he feels both are based on really good subjects.

Two days after Deepika visited JNU to express solidarity with the students who were attacked by a mob, a controversy erupted with #boycottchhapaak trending on Twitter. Many including Ramesh Biduri — BJP MP from South Delhi — asked people to boycott Chhapaak and watch Tanhaji instead.

Reacting to a Twitter war that has erupted over the issue, Ajay said at a media interaction in Mumbai on Friday: “A war is happening?! Who is doing it? I feel there is no such war is taking place. People express themselves on social media and we don’t take it seriously. I feel both films are made on really good subjects and I want both films to do well at the box-office.”

The actor is also co-producer of Tanhaji, and he is a known for his acute sense of film business. Asked if the clamour to boycott Chhapaak would help his film, he replied: “You (the media) know that better. I will get to know about it by the evening.”

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is a biographical period action drama in 3D, starring Ajay Devgan, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol and Sharad Kelkar. The film is directed by Om Raut. Set in the 17th century, it is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, who was a subedar in the army of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire.
