PewDiePie vs T-Series: YouTuber may lose the race to 100 million subscribers

The YouTube battle may be quiet now, but the race continues between PewDiePie and T-Series. The two YouTube channels are coming close to achieving a major milestone of 100 million subscribers. But the Indian music label will most likely beat the Swedish YouTuber to achieve this feat.

T-Series started and is continuing to defeat PewDiePie for the top YouTube spot. The Indian YouTube channel is now leading with over 95 million subscribers. PewDiePie is behind T-Series with a difference of 800,000 subscribers. According to the pace at how both YouTube channels are gaining subscribers, they would soon reach the 100 million mark in less than a month.

According to social media analytics page, Social Blade, T-Series is predicted to reach 100 million subscribers as early as May 21. PewDiePie, on the other hand, will reach this spot a little late on June 2. The Swedish YouTuber has long held the YouTube crown but soon saw threat from the rising popularity of T-Series.

The start of this YouTube battle began last year in October with both channels hovering around 67 million subscribers. It has been a crazy ride ever since. PewDiePie and T-Series’ YouTube battle has so far been a mix of memes, bizarre campaigning, and even legal.

Following a Delhi High Court order, two of PewDiePie’s diss videos were removed from YouTube. T-Series argued that the diss tracks namely ‘Congratulations’ and ‘Bitch Lasagna’ contained defamatory remarks against Indians. These videos are no longer available in India.

Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea are trolling each other over 6 paise per minute calling charges

Reliance Jio has drawn sharp reaction from its subscribers as well as rival operators after it announced charging users 6 paise per minute for voice calls. If official press releases were not enough, Vodafone Idea, Airtel and Reliance Jio are now taking it to social networking platforms to troll each over the issue.

Following Reliance Jio’s U-turn on free voice calls, Airtel published a short clip with a caption stating, “For some, unlimited means something else. For us, unlimited voice calls have always meant truly unlimited voice calls. Switch to Airtel now.”

The clip featured an equation which says free is not equal to 6 paise per minute. In another tweet, Airtel wrote, “When we say unlimited calling, we mean just that.” 

Vodafone Idea was also not behind. The operator in its tweet said, “Relax, there will be no charges on Vodafone calls to other networks. So keep enjoying what we promised you – truly free calls on Vodafone unlimited plans.”

As expected, Reliance Jio fired shots at both the operators with a series of tweets. Taking a dig at Airtel, Reliance Jio said in a tweet, “6 paise/minute Air Toll” along with a disclaimer, “Every time a Jio customer makes an outgoing mobile call to other operator’s customer, 6 paise/minute is paid to the other operator as Interconnect Usage Charges (IUC), as per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Regulations.”

In its latest tweet, Reliance Jio said “6 paise/minute. We ain’t asking for it. They are” along with the above mentioned disclaimer.

In the case you haven’t caught up with why these telecom companies are at it again, here’s a brief recap for you.

Reliance Jio earlier this week announced dropping free voice calls for its subscribers. While the Jio-to-Jio calls remain free, calls on other networks such as Airtel and Vodafone Idea will now be charged 6 paise per minute – as per TRAI’s IUC norms.

The operator said it had paid nearly Rs 13,500 crore to rival networks as IUC in the last three years. It pointed out that the regulator had planned to end IUC regime by January 2020. The telecom regulator, however, recently floated a new consultation paper on IUC indicating a possible deferment.

WhatsApp latest beta update show how dark mode looks on the app

Dark mode on WhatsApp is possibly one of the most awaited features. The rumoured dark mode on WhatsApp is still in the works and a new update gives more glimpse of this new UI change.

WhatsApp’s latest beta update for Android shows further developments of dark mode, WABetaInfo reported. Like past dark mode sightings, this one isn’t available for WhatsApp public beta users either. With frequent appearances of WhatsApp dark mode, this feature is expected to roll out soon for all users.

On WhatsApp, dark mode will be known as ‘dark theme’ which is also the same on Android 10 and iOS 13. The latest update shows how text bubbles on WhatsApp will look when dark theme is turned on. Unlike Instagram, WhatsApp has a ‘night blue’ colour background on the app. The text is highlighted in white while the background has a black-bluish combination of colour.

As noted in the previous update, dark theme on WhatsApp isn’t refined yet and only some parts of the app have been optimised as yet. WhatsApp users will be able to set dark theme in the app manually. Users can also choose to sync dark theme on WhatsApp with their phone’s default dark theme. This means that whenever users turn on dark theme on their phone, WhatsApp will automatically switch to it too.

WhatsApp hasn’t confirmed when or if it will introduce dark theme on its app. The Facebook-owned company could roll out dark theme for all users even without introducing it first on public beta.

OnePlus TV vs Motorola TV vs Xiaomi Mi TV 4X: Gear up for these new 4K smart TVs in India

Xiaomi set the trend for smartphone brands to venture into smart TVs. Now more companies like Motorola and OnePlus have joined the trend. Xiaomi recently launched its biggest smart TV in India, while Motorola launched a series of smart TVs. OnePlus is slated to launch its first smart TV in India tomorrow.

Xiaomi’s smart TVs like its smartphones offer premium features at affordable prices. Motorola’s smart TVs also range between Rs 13,999 and Rs 64,999 catering to each price category in the market. OnePlus TV which will possibly be the most exciting launch so far going by the latest teasers. We take a closer look at the smart TVs from Xiaomi, Motorola and OnePlus.

OnePlus TV

Starting with OnePlus TV, the company has so far revealed some features of its new device. OnePlus TV will feature a 55-inch 4K OLED display and Gamma Color processor. It is equipped to offer 50W of sound output from eight speakers. The smart TV will also have Dolby Atmos support. OnePlus TV will come with a smart remote which features a Google Assistant button, volume rocker and USB Type-C port. OnePlus TV will come with features like automatic voice control for incoming calls and shortcut for apps.

Motorola TV

Motorola TVs are available in 32-inch, 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch models with Full HD and UHD screen resolutions. These smart TVs run on Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. In terms of features, Motorola smart TVs are equipped with MEMC technology which enables higher refresh rate for gaming and fast moving video content. The premium models of Motorola smart TVs feature 30W speakers with AmphiSoundX technology and DTS TruSurround Sound.

Motorola TVs will start selling in India during Flipkart Big Billion Days sale from September 29.

Xiaomi Mi TV 4X

Xiaomi recently updated its Mi TV lineup with Mi TV 4X 65-inch, Mi TV 4X 50-inch, Mi TV 4X 43-inch and Mi TV 4A 40-inch. The first three models offer 4K HDR display while the Mi TV 4A 40-inch comes with a full HD screen. Xiaomi’s new Mi TV range starts at Rs 24,999 and goes up to Rs 54,999. Of these the 65-inch model is the biggest Mi TV the company has launched in India. It comes with WCG, 20W speakers, and Dolby DTS-HD. It also has features like ‘Vivid Colour Engine’ and houses slim 11mm bezels.
