Tourists visiting Delhi will soon get a new way to see the city. The Delhi government is planning to start evening bus rides that will take people around famous places. These will be electric purple buses decorated with pictures of well-known spots like the Signature Bridge and Bharat Mandapam. The buses are likely to start by late October or early November.
A tourism officer stated that the trip will commence at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya and will cover sites such as Bharat Mandapam, War Memorial, the new Parliament complex, and Dilli Haat. “The plan is to attract tourists and make their visit easier. The buses are new nine-metre electric ones hired from DTC,” the officer added.
Since the museum closes around 6 pm, the rides will start from there in the evening and move to other places. Each bus will have a guide who will tell people about the history and importance of the places they see.
Tickets for the ride will cost ?500 for adults and ?300 for children between six and twelve years old.
This plan is part of the government’s effort to make Delhi more enjoyable for tourists. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had earlier talked about creating a new tourist route covering spots like the War Memorial, Kartavya Path, Prime Minister’s Museum, and the Parliament complex.
The government also thought about bringing back the old “hop-on, hop-off” bus service that stopped during the COVID-19 period. But officials said it might not work well because of heavy traffic in Delhi. “In other countries, these buses come often, but in Delhi, that’s not possible,” the officer said.
They also looked at ideas for special trips to markets or old monuments. But it was later decided that people might prefer visiting historical places rather than malls on buses.
These new evening electric buses will help tourists see Delhi’s main attractions in a simple, clean, and comfortable way after sunset.
