Food festival for kids

On the occasion of Children’s Day, Chowman launched a week-long ‘Children’s Food Festival’ with the underprivileged kids of NGO Basha.

Everything on the menu was created keeping in mind the flavours and textures that appeal to children the most – sweet, crunchy and tasty. This grand launch was raised by actor Koneenica Banerjee and Debaditya Chaudhury, MD, Chowman hospitality Pvt Ltd.

Speaking on the occasion, Debaditya Chaudhury said, “Children make us happy. Some children, who are less than fortunate, do not receive as much love and happiness as the share with the world. I wanted to give them happiness on this day which did not usually get and make them feel special and equally wanted in this society.”

Koneenika spoke at the event, “When we think of children, we think of Chinese. I am thankful to Debaditya for organising this event and calling the kids from Basha to experience this. I believe this food festival is going to be a success and I wish it all the best.”

Feeling sick amidst coronavirus outbreak! Here are tips to isolate and quarantine yourself

Everyone is aware of the deadly coronavirus that has taken the entire planet under its effect. After affecting in China, Italy, Iran and US, the virus is now increasing in India at a very rapid pace. As of now, India has confirmed over 126 cases with three fatalities. Seeing the effect, people have started taking precautionary measures to prevent it from spreading further. In view of the same, various state governments have taken preventive measures. They have ordered to shut down schools, colleges, malls, restaurants and all other public places to stop this virus from spreading.

There can be a number of reasons, one can come in contact with the infected person and fall ill. It’s high time to take important measures as soon as you discover any COVID-19 symptoms.

Anyone who has a cough, cold or any signs of this disease may be at high risk and should take essential steps to reduce the risk of infecting the people around them and quarantine themselves.

Here are a few measures that one can take and quarantine at home to escape the virus from spreading further.

One needs to get separated from his family members and pets as soon as they discover any symptoms. Try to stay away from your family in a separate room and use separate washroom and other necessary things.

Always remember to keep your towel, bedding and clothes separately. Do not mix them with others while washing and disinfect them properly.

Don’t forget to wear a face mask every time you step out of the room to visit a doctor or travel or any place where you may share space with any other person. Try to wear it even when you’re around your family and friends to prevent them from being at risk.

Try to use N-95 respirator quality or at least 3 layer protection mask. Be careful and maintain proper hygiene. Cover your mouth and nose while sneezing. Use a tissue to wipe your mouth and nose instead of handkerchief, throw the tissue into the dustbin immediately after using it.

Try to limit your movement inside the house so as to avoid touching any household items.

As the virus easily spread through contact so it is essential to wash your hands every now and then with a good handwash for at least 30 seconds. As per the health experts, people should purchase a hand sanitizer which has at least 60 percent alcohol content in order to eradicate germs.

Protect yourself from coronavirus by following few preventive measures

Coronavirus has become a threat to many countries. There are a few ways which can help stop the virus from spreading from one person to another and throughout an entire community. Help promote handwashing and other precautionary measures to be followed to protect the community from getting infected with coronavirus. These practices can help you stay healthy, especially during this key time when this virus is spreading. Read on to know these preventive measures.

Washing hands with soap and clean running water is the best way to get rid of germs in most situations.

Follow the correct steps to wash your hands:

Wet your hands with running water. Turn off the tap.

Apply soap.

Rub your hands to lather them with soap. Rub the front as well as backsides of your hands, nails, area under the nails and between the fingers properly. Keep rubbing your hands for at least 20 seconds.

Rinse your hands with clean running water.

Wipe your hands with a clean towel.

If you are not able to wash your hands with soap and water, use an alcohol-based sanitizer. Although a sanitizer is not that effective as washing your hands with soap and water but it can eliminate germs to a large extent when water and soap are not available. However, a sanitizer cannot eliminate dust, dirt and chemicals. The sanitizer should contain 60 percent alcohol.

Follow the correct steps to use a hand sanitizer:

Put a few drops of sanitizer on the palm of one hand.

Rub both hands with each other for at least 20 seconds. Rub between your fingers. The sanitizer would dry away.

Put a few drops on the backsides of each hand and rub until it dries away.

Few other precautions:

Coronavirus germs can live on hard surfaces for several hours. It is important to disinfect the high-touch surfaces quite often which can come in contact with the virus, especially at public places.

Do not bite your nails or touch your face, eyes, mouth and nose with dirty hands. These practices may put that virus on a direct route to your mouth and nose, giving it the ability to start making you sick. Keep your hands away from your face. When you touch any contaminated surface, you get sick after touching your face with the same contaminated hands by transferring the virus in your mouth or nose to cause the infection.

Do not share things at public places like utensils, food, water etc. Avoid sharing tiffin in the school or office or other such places. Although food does not spread the infection, sharing a plate or eating utensils with someone who is infected can potentially make you sick.

Try to avoid going to crowded places because infected people may not show any symptoms. There is no practical way to assess whether someone is suffering from coronavirus or not. So anyone can get infected unknowingly after coming in contact with an infected person.

Wash your clothes in hot water. After handling dirty laundry, wash your hands thoroughly.

Boost your immune system by adding the right vitamins and other nutrients to your diet.

Stay away from people who have symptoms of cold, flu and sickness. If you see someone sneezing or coughing, keep a distance of at least three feet from him to keep yourself safe.

If you are sick, stay home. Cover your mouth when you cough with disposable tissue. Dispose of the used tissues immediately after use in a closed dustbin. Use a mask to help prevent spreading of the virus. Discard the mask after using it for a day. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or a folded elbow when you cough or sneeze. Consult your doctor immediately when you are sick.

Prevention is always better than cure. You must take extra precautions for prevention from coronavirus.
