Delhi is set for a secure New Year celebration, with over 10,000 police personnel ensuring safety on the streets. A special focus is placed on curbing motorcycle stunts during the festivities.

To address potential issues, enhanced security measures, including additional pickets and barricades, will be deployed at border areas. The plan is to tackle any nuisance from neighboring states, according to a senior police officer.

The traffic police are actively combating hooliganism and traffic violations with a comprehensive strategy. Station House Officers (SHOs) will patrol the streets in two shifts on New Year’s Eve, with a strong emphasis on cracking down on motorcycle stunts and drunken driving.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey outlined the schedule, with the first shift from 5 pm to midnight and the second from midnight to 6 am. Over 10,000 personnel, including specialized traffic units, will be on duty, along with an additional 2,500 ensuring smooth vehicular movement.

Strategically positioned forces will maintain law and order, especially in high footfall areas. Approximately 450 police motorcycles will be stationed at various locations, contributing to the prevention of hooliganism and traffic violations at over 500 identified vulnerable points.

The collective measures aim to make Delhi’s New Year celebrations safe, secure, and enjoyable for everyone.
