Hansika Shukla, who has topped the Class 12 CBSE board exams, says she couldn’t believe it when her mother called her up to congratulate her for having topped the exams in the country.
In an interview to ABP news, Hansika, a student of DPS Ghaziabad, says that she was at home when the results were announced.
“My father called me from his office, but I couldn’t take his call. Then my mother called and congratulated me and told me that I had topped the exams. I couldn’t believe it,” she told ABP news.
While Hansika’s mother is an associate professor at a college in Ghaziabad, her father works as a secretary in the Rajya Sabha.
Hansika, who scored an absolute 100 on 100 in History, Political Science, Psychology and Hindustani vocals, has only one regret: scoring 99 in English.
Hansika said that she had not taken any tuition during her preparation for the board exams and that her score was completely on the basis of her self-study only.
She now wants to pursue Bachelors in Psychology and then go on to join the Indian Foreign Services.
“Psychology is my passion and I want to follow it. As far as career is concerned, I want to join the Indian foreign services as I am fascinated with the dynamics of foreign affairs,” she said.
Hansika’s teacher Abhilasha said that the she was a very hard working child and the results didn’t surprise her. “She has performed meticulously in the internals as well. She is a very disciplined child. We expected her to be topper,” said Hansika’s teacher Abhilasha,.
When asked about her choice of subjects, she said that she believes that History, Political Science and Psychology form the core of classical humanities. As far as music – her fifth subject – is concerned, she says that she always had an interest in music but somehow lost touch in class 4, but she took it up again later.
“I was always interested in History. History and political science always go hand in hand,” she says, adding that she had just wanted to study the subjects and had never thought about exams.
When asked about how active she was on social media, Hansika said that she wasn’t very active on social media and whenever she got bored while studying, she would, instead, prefer to listen to music.
“I listen to classical music and a little bit of Bollywood and English songs to relax at times,” she said.
“I am a sports enthusiast. At times, I would watch sports videos like those of badminton, gymnastics etc. I would also go out for some time to play a little. But I left that in the last two-three months before the exams,” she says.
As far as food is concerned, she says that junk food makes very little of her diet. “I love paneer, almost always wanted some variant of it. My mom would make it for me,” she says.
She says her parents always kept her motivated and focused. “My parents constant support enabled me to achieve this,” she says, adding that they always told her that she had the potential.
“My mom is strict, and always kept me focused. My father isn’t that strict, but he kept me positively motivated and would always tell me to keep up with the notes in the classroom,” she says.
