A 24-year-old man was busted at Delhi’s IGI Airport for trying to fly to Canada disguised as a 67-year-old using a fake passport. The police have now arrested the agent who orchestrated the scheme. This agent, Jagjeet Singh from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, created the fake documents for a hefty sum of INR 6 million.

Makeover to Appear Elderly

On June 18, around 5:20 PM, CISF staff at Terminal 3 stopped a man who claimed to be Rashvinder Singh, born on February 10, 1957. He was supposed to board an Air Canada flight at 10:50 PM. However, his youthful appearance, voice, and skin tone didn’t match the passport details. Further scrutiny revealed he had dyed his hair and beard white and wore glasses to look older.

Raised Suspicions Lead to Arrest

During the check, another passport under the name Gurusevak Singh was found on his phone. The man confessed that Gurusevak Singh was his real name and that he was using a fake passport issued under the name Rashvinder Singh. CISF handed him over to the police, who then registered the case.

Gurusevak Singh revealed that he and his wife wanted to move to the US for better opportunities. They connected with Jagjeet through a friend. Jagjeet promised to send them to the US illegally via Canada for INR 6 million. Gurusevak paid him INR 3 million upfront, with the rest to be paid upon arrival.

Fake Passport for Wife Too

DCP (IGI) Usha Rangnani said Jagjeet arranged a passport for Gurusevak under the name Rashvinder Singh and another for his wife, Archana Kaur, under the name Harjeet Kaur. Following Jagjeet’s instructions, a salon employee in Tilak Nagar did Gurusevak’s makeup to match the age on the passport photo.

Agent Caught in Uttarakhand

Authorities said Jagjeet also arranged their travel tickets. However, Gurusevak was caught at the airport, and his wife was also apprehended nearby as she tried to flee using a fake passport. Subsequently, a team led by SHO (IGI) Vijender Rana conducted multiple raids and eventually arrested the agent from his hideout in Uttarakhand.

Jagjeet, a graduate who runs a tour and travel company in Bijnor, confessed to the crime. The police are now interrogating the salon owner and contacting the actual passport holders involved in this case.
