10 Web Series From 2018 You Should Watch And 10 Web Series From 2019 You Should Watch Out For

2018 was a great year for web series and other content, and 2019 promises to be even better. So this list is split into two parts — the best from the last year and what we’re waiting for in this year.
BEST WEB SERIES FROM 2018
Sacred Games

You couldn’t have missed the incredible cat-and-mouse race between Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui this year, what with all the memes floating around. With other memorable characters like Kuku, Bunty, and Katekar — the show was some of the best TV we’d seen in a while.
Little Things (Season 2)

While the first season of the show was just an introduction to the couple, Dhruv and Kavya, season two opened up the issues in their relationship and also made them find ways to stay together. This season was more adult and delved deeper because of the longer format, and that just made the show a better watch.
Mirzapur

With a stellar cast headed by Pankaj Tripathi, Mirzapur was a gripping, binge-worthy show about a drug cartel in Mirzapur, UP. Warring families staking claim, sex scandals, and young men turning into goons and more. What more do you need?
Yeh Meri Family

If you miss your childhood, this show is what you need to relive it. Harshu has just started his summer vacation and is dying to have a good time, but his mother won’t allow it. With the help of his best friend, Shanky, his shenanigans are worth a watch and will melt your heart.
Engineering Girls

When a lot of web series have been about men in engineering, this involves a fresh look at three female friends who are bound together by circumstances, bullies, and exam notes in a (usually) male-dominated space.
Breathe

A man going out of his way to save his son’s life and a depressed cop chasing an organ donation scam make for two very interesting characters, and an even better plot in this web series produced by R. Madhavan.
Vella Raja

This series is the story of a lodge and its many occupants who happen to get into trouble for various reasons. Except for one man — Deva. The series then revolves around how he manages to evade the cops and his rivals.
The Test Case

Though the first episode of the show dropped last year, it was only in 2018 that they were able to release the first season of the show. A story of a female army officer and how she battles the sexism around her to triumph above all, this show is not one to miss.
Sex-Rated

The series explores sex and why it’s still taboo in Indian society. The host, Rytasha Rathore, makes the subject hilarious yet informative for the viewers.
WEB SERIES TO WATCH OUT FOR IN 2019
Baahubali: Before The Beginning

After the stupendous success of the film series, there is going to be a prequel on Netflix that will be based on the book The Rise Of Sivagami by Anand Neelakantan.
Sacred Games (Season 2)
So good we got it twice. If the first season is anything to go by, the second season might be even better. Plus, I think we all need to know what happens after the ominous 25-day warning.
Leila

Based on the dystopian novel by Prayaag Akbar, Leila will be directed by Deepa Mehta and others for Netflix, and will star the Huma Qureshi and Siddharth.
Made In Heaven

The Zoya Akhtar-Reema Kagti written web series has been in the works for a couple years now and is about competing wedding planners in Delhi.
Bard Of Blood

Based on a book of the same name, this web series will be Red Chillies Entertainment’s (Shah Rukh Khan’s production house) first foray into the digital space. The political espionage thriller stars Emraan Hashmi.
The Verdict: State vs. Nanavati

After Akshay Kumar’s Rustom was made based on the infamous Nanavati murder case, a web series produced by Ekta Kapoor starring Jim Sarbh and Manav Kaul will hit ALTBalaji sometime next year.
The Forgotten Army
Kabir Khan (of Ek Tha Tiger fame) will be making his foray into the digital space with this series on Subash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army for Amazon Prime Video.
RakeshMaria
Meghna Gulzar has been called in to direct a series on the life of the ex-Mumbai Commissioner, Rakesh Maria. He was leading the force at the time of the 26/11 attacks, and his story might be a great one to watch on screen.

The Elephant Whisperer: The Heartwarming Story of a Couple and Their Orphaned Elephant!

In a world where we are often disconnected from nature and the creatures that inhabit it, “The Elephant Whisperers” brings us closer to the heart of one of the most intelligent and majestic animals on earth – the elephant. This documentary, which won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2023, follows the story of Bomman and Belli, an indigenous couple who become the surrogate parents to an orphaned baby elephant named Raghu.
Set in the breathtakingly beautiful Mudumalai National Park in Tamil Nadu, India, the film takes us on a journey through the wilderness, showing us the natural beauty of the location and the life of the tribal people who live in harmony with nature. From the very beginning, we are captivated by the bond that develops between Bomman, Belli, and Raghu.
When Raghu is first found by the couple, he is a fragile, injured infant who is barely clinging to life. Bomman and Belli take on the responsibility of caring for him, nursing him back to health with love, patience, and a deep understanding of his needs. As the weeks go by, Raghu thrives under their care, becoming a healthy and mischievous juvenile who delights into playing with his human parents and exploring the forest around them.
The film captures the incredible intelligence and emotional depth of elephants, showing us how Raghu communicates with Bomman and Belli through a range of sounds and body language. We see how the couple responds to his needs, anticipating his every move and showering him with love and attention. The bond between them is truly heartwarming, and we can’t help but be moved by the way they care for Raghu.
But “The Elephant Whisperers” is more than just a story of a couple and their pet elephant. It is a celebration of the beauty and richness of the natural world, and a reminder of our duty to protect and preserve it. Through stunning cinematography and insightful commentary, the film shows us the interconnectedness of all life and the importance of living in harmony with the world around us.
The film also raises important questions about the conservation of elephants in India and the threats they face from habitat loss, poaching, and human-elephant conflict. It is a call to action for all of us to take responsibility for the welfare of these magnificent creatures and to work towards a future where they can thrive in their natural habitats.
“The Elephant Whisperers” is a film that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled. It is a powerful reminder of the beauty and fragility of the natural world, and of the incredible capacity for love and compassion that exists within us all. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch this incredible documentary – you won’t regret it!
